Kathryn Erbe Will Be Torn Between Two Lovers in New Craig Lucas Play Ode to Joy

Tony nominee Kathryn Erbe is about to get caught between a man and woman in the world premiere of Ode to Joy, written and directed by Craig Lucas, at the Cherry Lane Theatre off-Broadway. A production of Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, the new play starts performances on February 12, with an opening night set for February 27.

According to the theater, Ode to Joy is a story of "love, heartbreak, addiction and illness." Erbe stars as an artist named Adele and will be joined by Arliss Howard and Roxanna Hope as her lovers, Bill and Mala.

A TV and stage mainstay for over 20 years, Erbe received a Tony nod for her role as Mary in 1991's The Speed of Darkness. She's most recently been seen off-Broadway in Natural Affection, Nikolai and the Others and as First Lady Pat Nixon in Douglas McGrath's Checkers. A TV and film regular, Howard made his Broadway debut in the 2009 Broadway revival of August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone. Hope's Broadway credits include Frost/Nixon and After The Fall.

The design team for Ode to Joy, which is set for a limited run through March 30, includes set designer Andrew Boyce, costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Paul Whitaker and sound designer Daniel Kluger.
